Keeping The House Clean On A Budget: The Bathroom

We all know that the bathroom has to be cleaned regularly but no one actually likes doing it and it’s always put off for as long as possible. Before you decide you are going to tackle the bathroom make sure you have a nice strong pair of rubber gloves. You don’t need to buy all the expensive cleaning products you see on the market these days as there are much cheaper alternatives around the house. Vinegar is a great product for when it comes to cleaning, leave some sat at the bottom of an empty toilet and leave it to soak in for about an hour. Any tough stains that are left will be easy to scrub away.

The bathroom has to deal with more water than any other room in the house and there’s often very little ventilation so you’re bound to have hard water you need to get rid of. Vinegar is great for removing stains from things like the taps and showers. A good ratio for this solution is one part vinegar to three parts water.

Bathroom and backlit mirrors can be a nightmare to keep looking clean. Any streaks will always show up here more prominently than anywhere else in the bathroom. To keep the mirrors looking perfect try using rubbing alcohol which you mix one part with four parts of water. Shake this mixture well in a bottle before spraying directly onto the mirror before wiping clean with a soft dry towel.

Always make sure you’ve got cleaning supplies and cleaning bathroom accessories that are specific to the bathroom. You don’t want to be using the same sponge to wipe the bathroom down that you’re then going to use to clean the kitchen with. Ideally the bathroom should have its own mop and bucket and cleaning cloths and sponges. Always keep everything locked out the way especially if you have small children around as these things could appear very enticing to little hands.
