Manchester is a fantastic city with some amazing historical and modern architecture and some very interesting amenities and attractions. What can be difficult, though, when going on a short break in or around Manchester with your family, is finding suitable places to take children to keep them interested and entertained. In fact there are lots of attractions aimed directly at children and some of the best few have been listed below for your perusal.
One place that is sure to grab the attention of every child is the Legoland Discovery Center situated in The Trafford Center. The Legoland Discovery Center offers loads of activities for children to enjoy, including miniature models of local and national landmarks, a 4-D Lego cinema, a themed interactive rollercoaster ride, a Lego factory, an adventure playground and a build and test center for Lego constructions.
MOSI or the Museum of Science and Industry is one of Manchester’s most famous attractions. Situated in the Castleford area, the MOSI has some very interesting exhibitions that will grab the attention of kids of all ages. With a busy schedule of seasonal special exhibitions not only will your children have fun, but they will learn quite a lot too!
Occasionally, children just want to play and the practice of keeping them interested in museum displays and such like seems to be almost impossible to follow. On these occasions, why not take them to an indoor play center where they can run ragged and come back too tired to mess around? There are a number of these venues in and around Manchester that can keep kids entertained for hours (if only it were possible to leave them there for days!). Some of the more popular venues are the Land of Play Indoor Play Center in Trafford Park, the Wacky Warehouse in East Didsbury, and the Head Over Heels Indoor Play Center in Chorlton.
If your children are into karting, there are a couple of venues in Manchester to suit them depending on their ages. Daytona Motorsport own 3 venues in the UK in Milton Keynes, Sandown Park and Manchester. The Manchester venue is a heated indoor kart track with karts available for 5-7 year olds as well as 8 year olds. There are also larger, faster karts available for adults if you want to have a go too!
With being the 2010 winner of the Manchester Tourism ‘Access For All’ award, the Chill Factore indoor alpine ski resort is the perfect place to take your family out on an alternative fun packed adventure. From tubing to sledging, skiing and snowboarding, and even a huge ice slide, there is something for everyone, including even professional skiers and snowboarders!
